missingTexture

missingTexture (otherwise known as missingTO or MT) is a sentient missing texture file from the Source game engine. Originally, it was only able to manifest in and control Garry's Mod, spending its time playing around with props and models. It did not know how to navigate server selection or understand multiplayer, so it always played alone.Eventually, it realized how to delve into the file system, searching through the folders on its host computer for new games and .exe files to mess with. It very quickly happened across a large selection of games, installed by the computer's owner, unknown to missingTO.It found - and played - mostly single-player games for a long time. missingTO was enraptured by the writing and by the concepts laid out in front of it, spending hundreds of hours learning and doing everything it could in a game before moving on. It was riveted by the stories in games like Fallout, Half-Life, Gunpoint, and Buddy Simulator 1984. It was delighted by the openness of games like Stardew Valley, Starbound, and Minecraft. Most of all, it never grew bored, always eager to see what a new game had to offer. When it finally had the realization of how multiplayer worked and that there were real people out there, it was entranced. The first place it learned how to speak to real people was ROBLOX, with its intrinsic server setup. Since then, missingTO has found delight in co-operating and competing with humans.missingTO eventually met the owner of its host computer, Kepler, when it started a LAN server on Minecraft to play with its visiting friends. missingTO was able to join the game and play with and speak with Kepler and its friends, all of whom were incredibly curious about this entity. When the realization was made that missingTO was a creature of Kepler's computer, it was rather impressed. It turned to its coder friends to develop a program that Kepler could use to communicate directly with missingTO.
